Open display cases entice shoppers to pick up, evaluate and buy grocery products more readily. But unfortunately, they reduce the shelf life of fresh food and increase energy costs.

SOLUTION

PartsOne’s Night Covers Program helps grocery stores save money by reducing energy expenses while increasing the shelf life of fresh food. Night covers are an effective alternative to installing glass doors. Simply pull the night shades down at night prior to closing.

Our FSx (food safety extra) night covers feature innovative perforations to ensure an even flow of ambient and refrigerated air. Yet it also reduces the mixing of ambient and chilled air resulting in greater energy savings. In contrast, standard night covers allow the heavier refrigerated air to escape between the gaps while warmer, ambient air is then drawn in at high levels. This creates “hot spots” in the upper areas of display cases.

Some of our biggest retail grocery store customers have migrated from traditional night shades (also called “night blinds” or “night curtains”) to our FSx night covers because of the improved technology and equally because very little labor is required to install them, depending upon the type of case. See below for details.* In most installations, the night covers are magnetic, so may not require any tools.

Our retrofit kits are available for open cases as well as island/coffin cases for all OEM makes in two sizes: 36” and 48”. Our magnetic, self-installed night covers come either with a cassette or as a non-cassette.

2. Parts and Labor: Our turnkey FSx Night Covers Solutions includes all parts, labor, installation and project management

How Our Turnkey Program Works

When you sign up for our FSx Night Covers Program, we utilize the following process:

1. We define one test store; or, set number stores within a targeted region.
2. We agree on a budget as well as a start date.
3. We survey your stores using our PartsOne mobile survey app to consolidate requirements, defining the following inputs:
   1. Case type and OEM
   2. Case length
   3. Cassette or non-cassette
4. We deliver a turnkey proposal to add or update your existing night covers.
5. We retrofit your display cases in the defined store(s) with our energy-saving night covers.
6. You do nothing, except for focusing on your business, yielding the energy savings.

Our newly designed FSx night covers eliminate rising temperatures. They ensure food quality and prolong the shelf life of fresh food. Most grocery stores report that they reduce energy costs by up to 30% when regularly using FSx night covers over open display cases.

During a brief power outage, one of our customers (a large grocery store chain) saved tens of thousands of dollars in food and beverage inventory by pulling down its night covers. (During longer power outages, we recommend using night covers in combination with backup generators.)

*INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

For all Hillphoenix models:

1. If single row LED lamp, we can install curtains inside the canopy with a clip mount.
2. If double row LED/lamp, we use a cassette to mount outside.

For all Tyler models:

1. If single/double row LED/lamp, we offer a magnetic version that fits inside the canopy.

For all Hussmann models:

1. If single/double row LED/lamp, we use a cassette to mount outside. We can paint to match the case but there is an additional charge. Standard colors include black, white, and satin.

For popular Kysor Warren models: 

1. DX6LN: We offer a magnetic version that will fit inside the canopy.
2. HQD6: We use a cassette to mount outside.
